Taylor’s University is a member of the Taylor’s Education Group, which also comprises of Taylor’s College, Taylor’s International School, Garden International School, Australian International School Malaysia, Nexus International School, Putrajaya and Nexus International School Singapore. Since its inception in 1969, Taylor’s has become one of Malaysia’s most successful and reputable private higher education institutions.

In the 2016 university ranking released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), global higher education analysts, Taylor’s University has made it to the top 200 universities in Asia, moving up more than 20 places to be listed as no 179. In 2015, Taylor’s were ranked at the Top 201-250. Taylor’s is also ranked no. 29 among ASEAN universities.
This achievement, which positions Taylor’s as the top private university in Malaysia among non-GLC linked private universities, is an important milestone for a young, dynamic and ambitious university like Taylor’s University, in line with its aim of becoming one of Asia’s leading universities. It is a testament to the university’s global reputation among the academic partners and employers, our research output, faculty-student ratio and achievement in internationalization.
Taylor’s University has also received another international recognition by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) in 2016 when it was awarded 5-Star in five (5) categories of the QS Stars Rating namely, Teaching, Employability, Facilities, Internationalisation and Inclusiveness. QS Stars rating is another important milestone for Taylor’s University as it measures the university’s achievement against other top universities worldwide.
Taylor’s University is also rated ‘Tier 5: Excellent’ by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia in the biennial Malaysian Qualifications Agency Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education Institutions (SETARA), which measures the quality of teaching and learning at the undergraduate level in universities and university colleges in Malaysia in 2009, 2011, and 2013. The SETARA rating exercise was last done in 2013.
Taylor’s University bagged the Gold award in the “Education & Learning” category in the Putra Brand Awards for seven consecutive years since 2010. Taylor’s University is also the only educational institution honoured with a “Putra Brand Icon” award. Putra Brand Awards winners were chosen via an online survey by 6,000 respondents nationwide making it the largest consumer research sampling of its kind and the most prestigious consumer award in the country.
Another milestone achieved for Taylor’s University is the recognition of being named the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand Gold Award in the Private University/ College Category for six consecutive years since 2011, as voted by consumers nationwide.
Taylor’s University has also been recognized for its innovative teaching methodologies at the national level. In 2013, the Anugerah Akademik Negara (AAN) 2013 was awarded to Mr. Lim Chee Leong, Head of the e-Learning Academy (eLA), InTeLLeCT in the Kategori Anugerah Pengajaran (Kelompok Sains Gunaan). Lim Chee Leong is the first individual from a private university to be awarded this prestigious award from the Ministry of Education, Malaysia, which was presented to him by Y.A.B. Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Taylor’s University Career Services Centre has also received recognition from leading employers through the award initiated by TalentCorp in partnership with gti Media as the Most Resourceful Career Centre (Private University) during the Malaysia’s 100 Leading Graduate Employers 2014 Awards Ceremony. Taylor’s was subsequently named the Best Career Development Centre (Private University) for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016) as voted by more than 200 of Malaysia’s leading graduate employers.
Taylor’s is also the first university in Asia to roll out Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in 2013, an extension of our e-learning initiatives that benefit people from every part of the world. The courses not only make learning interactive, but interesting for today’s generation who appreciates flexible learning.
We are also the first university outside the United States to be accepted into the Grand Challenges Scholar Program, championed by National Academy of Engineering (NAE) to guide future engineers who have the desire to change the world and work on projects affecting our quality of life. Students who are enrolled into this programme will have the same opportunities students at top American engineering schools have to work on projects that will make an impact for the people and the planet.
