In-demand jobs in Malaysia for 2016/2017 by TalentCorp Malaysia’s Critical Occupation List
Since 2015, TalentCorp Malaysia has been publishing its annual series on occupations which are deemed to be skilled, sought-after and strategic across ten key sectors in Malaysia. This information is contained in its publication entitled Critical Occupations List (COL). The information below expounds the information contained it its 2016/2017 publication.
The ten key sectors that were selected for consideration in the COL are: (i) Aerospace; (ii) Electrical and Electronics (E&E); (iii) Medical Devices; (iv) Telecommunications and Multimedia; (v) Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Global Business Services (GBS); (vi) Financial Services; (vii) Professional Services (Accounting); (viii) Oil, Gas & Energy; (ix) Petrochemicals and; (x) Education.
Based on a bottom-up feedback, input from sector regulators and administrative data, these are the top critical occupations from each of the ten key sectors:
Based on the top critical occupation required for most sectors, there is a pressing need for managerial roles more than anything else in order for our economy to progress and to develop. Therefore, from this, we can also deduce that there is a need for our current workforce to continue to upskill, especially to a managerial level.
