Module Synopsis

The curriculum consists of exam free modules which are totally assignment based. The assignments are generally to be written in not more than 3000 words. Personal consultation sessions are scheduled with lecturers over weekends for guidance on assignments. Busy working professionals can get around 75% of the guidance through emails and skype as well. Lecturers are highly experienced in the delivery of the modules and student friendly in assuring flexibility and convenience to students.

1. Business Analysis Project

This module focusses on both strategic and operational aspects and integrates topics and themes from other modules. This integrative approach will enable you to develop a comprehensive understanding of the issues faced by an organisation and the implications of such issues for its well-being.

2. Decision Making and Problem Solving

This module provides the skills and knowledge necessary to develop frameworks and approaches to decision making, by critically examining theoretical models and relating them to business experience.

3. Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Assesses the classical model of entrepreneurship and examines the main characteristics of successful entrepreneurs within both smaller less well-known organisations and the more famous names who lead larger organisations. Recent alternative approaches to entrepreneurship will be examined, focusing especially on how to develop an entrepreneurial culture that involves employees at every level within the organisation. The study of innovation will begin with the importance of creative and integrative thinking, followed by reflection on the context of innovation within the modern business environment. Finally, the innovation process itself will be examined along with attempts to protect innovations through a variety of intellectual property rights.

4. Marketing Management

Present day customers are sophisticated consumers of product or service offerings, are mobile, articulate and can discriminate between alternative offers, and consequently, make choices that hitherto were unthinkable. Individuals and organisations have significant switching power, can accept and reject offers quickly, and have portfolios of acquisition patterns that are unpredictable. What we regarded as a market, segmented by socioeconomic groupings, or benefits has to be re-defined in modern marketing. This module will seek to examine these issues using a series of case studies from companies in different paced markets (fast/slow moving), domestic and international settings and combinations of product/service relationships.

5. Organizational Behavior

The purpose of this module is to provide a number of conceptual frameworks to help you make sense of your professional practice and context. The focus of the module is to seek insights into behaviour in organisations from a behavioural science perspective. The module develops your critical awareness of the key debate between contending theories of organisations and management, particularly in relation to organisational processes. The module will evaluate the underlying assumptions of particular perspectives and concepts and what these mean for management practice. Each of the topics covered in the module provides a unique perspective on understanding and shaping behaviour in organisations.

6. Research Methods for Business Management

This module provides course participants with the appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities they will need to effectively carry out a piece of small scale business/management research. A particular emphasis will be placed upon developing individuals towards their Master's dissertation/project. A focus is given to the specific issues faced by managers and researchers when carrying out research in an organisational setting. These will include the philosophical aspects of enquiry in social settings, operating in political contexts, negotiating access to key individuals and data, and meeting the research outcomes expected by multiple organisational stakeholders. Consequently, this module will focus on providing individuals with the necessary skills to meet these challenges and therefore effectively plan, carry out and report upon their Masters level dissertation/project.

7. Strategic Financial Analysis

This module provides a conceptual and analytical framework for looking at the financial performance of organisations operating internationally in a capital, financial and operational markets.

8. Strategic Management

Students will explore the rich field of strategic management and how strategic analysis and formulation contribute to an organisations performance.

Postgraduate Major Project

Supports students in preparation and submission of a masters stage project or dissertation. It involves an assessment volume equivalent to 18,000 words and worth 60 credits.

This MBA programme promotes an exchange of views between student – lecturer and student – student. The lecturers are able to communicate their knowledge to the students as the classes consist of smaller student number and a conducive atmosphere. The lecturers are with high academic level and business experiences are most suitable for an MBA programme. The college both at the KL and Bukit Jalil campus provides excellent facilities for students to use.
